Hi Everyone! It's been a long time since I sent out a newsletter, but this one I need to send out. I hope you're all doing well.
Hurricane Sandy wiped out Fitness By the Bay. Blew off the roof, filled the gym with 3' of water and killed a few pieces of equipment. To see pictures, click here.
This email has 3 purposes.
1. To inform you of Fitness By the Bay's location being destroyed
2. To let you know I'm working on finding a space for a New Fitness By the Bay
3. To make sure you all know I'm providing in home services until I can open a new facility.
This has been a rough go. And I know for some of you, you've run into similar problems with your homes being destroyed, or damaged. I'm very sorry if any of you have gone through this. It's a life changing event, and you have my deepest sympathies.
The fitness end of this is fairly unique. For those of you who have trained with me, you know the value of being fit and in shape. This disaster has verified with me, that being in shape is important. I moved most of the equipment out of the gym by myself, Cleaned it, and stored it. I had help with the major pieces once I took them apart.
There is no way, at my age, should I have been able to do this, if I did not exercise, and strength train. I can guarantee, my clients who had to face physical challenges during this disaster that they feel the same. There's a lot of "grunt" work involved.
If you haven't worked out, you're shot! You're tired, sore and want to give up.
What we learned is valueable. DON'T EVER THINK IT WON'T HAPPEN TO YOU! For some of you, and for myself, it has happened.
Ask yourself it you weren't in this situation. How well would have I done, mentally, and physically if it happened to me? Do you think you could lift heavy objects all day, for days on end? Would you be able to rescue yourself from a dangerous and difficult situation? Would you be able to help someone else, possibly even your kids or spouse? Don't rely on the "Grandma lifted a volkswagen off her grandchild" senario.
When all is said and done. I personally, am having a rough time. But I'm good just the same. I went through this, and MENTALLY, I'm tired, but I'm not gone. I attribute this to exercise. I still workout. I have a gym membership. And everytime I go and workout, I feel great. I have a positive attitude, I feel like I'm in charge! When I don't go, I get down and like the world beat me.
I'm not beaten, I'm up and ready to keep you from failing on the next disaster. I hope to god you never have to lose your home or your livelihood, but the reality is, it can happen to any of us, and in a moments notice. What I want to know is, are you ready?
It doesn't take that much. Out of the 10,080 minutes in a week, you can find 180 minutes to exercise. That's 30 minutes a day, for 6 days. It's fast, and you can find the time. It's an investment in your future.
Give me a call if you want to start In Home Training. I wish you all the best, and I look forward to seeing everyone again soon. Feel free to give me a call or email or text just to say hi and keep in touch. If you have any questions, you can always text me those as well. I'm here for all of you.
